How about this one. Not infrared I know, but maybe you can stick some IR LEDS on the back yourself

mp3playerstore sells that same camera on ebay for $10 less than their own website: $39.95:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

Unfortunately, it lists the same bad viewing angle, and I can't find any other sources which sell this camera as well and list the specs.

Its fine if you want a CMOS image processor which are low quality. If they don't say CCD they are CMOS. CCD are much higher quality as quated by the seller of the one by ROYN

I'm going to take some screenshots of the camara working..........but for now let me tell you that my truck I can see alll the rear bumper for side to side...... I really don't know if yours is better cause is over a 100 angle but this is more that good for my girl (so I don't have to replace the right side of the bumper one more time)

Found an answer folks:

The good ol' boys at Starvision have a line of CMOS and CCD cameras that aren't too expensive.

http://www.webzone.us/audio/home.php?cat=260

The CAM-450 is a keyhole camera with a CCD sensor (yes CCD!). The viewing angle is not specified on WebZone or on Starvision's Website however. I am going to e-mail Starvision for info. This uses a "Drill Type" CCD sensor (probably means tiny azz plastic lens, but hey you can't get everything you want for $70.00)

Here's the tight one though: Check out the CAM-550. This little sucker has a 1/3 CCD sensor with IR LEDs and an autofocusing iris with auto white balance control. That's almost unheard of in a car cam in this price range. I am considering this camera for inside my vehicle (especially at night). Because of how big it is (or appears), I doubt I could use it as a practicle application for outdoor use. Though I suppose I could mout this near the license plate, as long as I don't block the letters or numbers. Viewing angle is not specified.

I will e-mail Starvision tomorrow and get viewing angle specs and size specs. They also don't mention resolution (which on most is 350 lines or 400 lines, which is better than VHS quality, but not quite DVD), I'll try to find that out too.

Anyone want to be the guenni pig and try one out?

@RoyN: any screenshots and install pics yet?

i recently bought a 2001 chevy tahoe here in switzerland and parking it sideways in a small parking lot in zürich really can be a pain in the a... so i plan on getting a rear view camera to see the whole bumper. because the rear window bends forward, i can't attach it to the top of the rear door, so i need to have a camera with a high view angle to be able to see the whole bumper from about below the rear window.

btw: i saw a cool and very very small camera (it was about 1/2" long) at this year's CeBit (computer exhibition in germany). it has something around 150° Viewing angle i'd guess (i only could try to find it out by moving my hands, so it might be less or more, but it's a lot ) and the picture quality is probably enought to use it as a rear view (i saw it in action).
the problem is, i don't know where to get them. as always, those taiwanese exhibitors only sell in quantities of 100+ items ... well i think allthough a tahoe is one of the bigger cars in switzerland, it isn't so big that i needed 100 cams around it

anyway.. here's a picture of the camera.. if any of you saw it somwhere, let me know!

cheers
pascal
PS: i don't really need a keyhole camera, since there is no keyhole
