wow, nice install
does it help alot in guessing the distance to others and do you also see enough of the edges of your car?
i always wanted to put my camera on the cargo door in order to see the bumper from above... do you have any screenshots of what you see?
cheers
pascal

Carpc is acting up slightly so no action shots for now...
The distance udgement takes a bit getting used to... the angle is really wide, but I guess once you get the hang of it it is really useful... I'm afraid of getting over-confident due to this "extra tool"

Are those 100% waterproof? Any possibility of messing them up when washing your car?

RoyN I'm dying for some pics of the camera in action. Pretty Please?
Anyway I have been on the hunt for a good camera and I have found the one from yanlab and another on ebay.
I'm skeptical about this one, can someone please help me not make a stupid purchase. Heres what I've got :
1. 380 tv lines
2. 100 degree viewing angle
3. Infra red
Total $86.00 w/shipping
Problems: It dosen't say CCD anywhere. (e-mailing seller) REPLY: Yep it's CMOS.
Turns to black and white at night. (not sure if this is good or bad)
Almost forgot-

Make sure it is CCD.... most likely it isnt if the seller doesnt outright say it or if he keeps beating round the bush...
I'll try to get pics... the resolution is really very good...

Finally got around to getting the lcd in so I tried out my SAVV cam.
Here's a pic that gives you a good idea of the FOV.
There's also a 4mb quicktime video here of my holding it and angling it around the cabin to see how it looks if anyone is curious.
QT Camera
Either open it in a new window or save it to disk.

I contacted these folks about the StarVision camera, and they told me the high end model is a 40 degree camera (bummer!)
I then asked if any of their cameras was 100 degress FOV or greater. I go no response.

I wonder if you could stick a peephole lense in front of it. I was thinking about trying that on a cheap mini-bw cam I have.

Shotgunefx: The savv cam in the video/pic has a 150 degree viewing angle?
It doesn't look very wide to me. I would expect it to be much wider, but I haven't seen much to compare it to.
Maybe once RoyN posts some pics I will be able to put it into perspective.

They quote 150 degrees.
Did you look at the QT video? I basically held it in front of my face and moved it around. It's gotta be pretty wide to see most of the dash at less than 20" away. You figure I can see the the whole interior of the passenger side when facing it right from the driver's. A 90 degree camera at roughly 40" inches will capture a 40" field of view. From the rear deck to the firewall is probably close to 80". So if it's capturing all that, it's gotta be around 150 degrees.
The only thing I don't like about it is there seems to be a fair bit of noise in the picture. On the other hand, it does well in low light.
Perhaps this pic will show the FOV better.

The camera is about 12" away from the lcd

Ya, the picture above shows the angle much better, thanks.
I am having a hard time choosing which camera I want, mainly because of the price.
There is only two I'm looking at:
1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4558653080
This is the one being reviewed in this thread, from yanlab. $150
2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5784108112
This one has very similar specs, except for infrared. $54
Can you help me choose? Is it worth $100 for infrared?

the second one does not say whether it is CCD or CMOS, CCD is the one to get, as it doesn't state I would suggest it is CMOS. That is where the $100 is
