I got a few caps today of the Savv camera. I'm thinking of mounting it in one of those fake shark antennas on the roof. If I put it inside, I lose a bit of view. Though the positive is that I don't have to drill a hole in my roof.
Heres it on the headliner.

The cones are the corner of the field of view.
Decisions, decisions. I think for now, I might go with it installed in the interior until I get some of these other projects squared away.

shotgunefx: that is definitely a very wide angle camera, very nice! 150-170 degrees or so?
Can you post a link to pricing specs etc please?

About 150. I just got to pick a place and get the damn thing in. I bought it in 04 
It's a savv vac-rv5000

One other thing, if you already have one that uses a board camera (or got one of those nitemax units), you could just buy a wide angle board lens for 20 bucks and make it wide angle.

I did installed the camera inside today. It would be better outside, but good enough for now. I won't have time to make the roof "fin" any time soon.
Here's a vid.

(Do me a favor, on some players ,the vid is getting cropped. If the sides of the video stop at the speaker grilles, and not the pillars, let me know)
So, in the next few days, I'm going to take out the roof liner, spray it dark gray and reinstall it and the camera wiring permanently.
On another note, my domain got shut off (missed the renewal) , I just renewed it, so if anybody is looking for the pics in this and the nitemax thread, they'll be back shortly.

Has anyone disassembled one of these keyhole cams? I want to mount it on top of my plate looking down to the bumper but they all are to long with that casing.

how does the image look at night...
ive been considering buying it for a while now.. but i wanna see an image at night before i plunge $170 for one

The Savv one I have, think there is something wrong with it. At night, it's way too noisy (sometimes in other fairly well light situtuations too). It gets like black snow. The cam is supposed to switch between day and night mode (color/b&w), but I don't think it's doing it right. When it works, looks great. I'll have to do an exploratory on it one of these days to see if anything can be adjusted.

I purchased this camera from Yanlab late last year, and I'm having some issue right now. Not sure if it's due to my setup or the camera itself. I'm using it as a rear-view camera.
During day time this camera is great. But sometimes if the car had been parked outside and it was hot, the picture would be all scrambled like the image is out of sync with the monitor.
At night if I'm driving alone, it is great as I can see a lot of details with the infrared lamps inside the camera casing. But if I'm not alone, the headlights from the cars behind me would render the camera useless, as all that would be displayed on the monitor is a big blob of white lights. Is this a common experience with cameras that have IR lamps?

Well heat can cause lot's of problems with electroncis, so wouldn't be that suprised.
As far as the glare, well, I think it's more a function of the camera board and not much to do with the fact that it can see IR. Most camera's can see IR (though many have a filter so you don't), the leds are more incidental.

What would be a good camera to get to remedy the nighttime situation? I need a camera that won't amplify headlights so much that renders the image unviewable. Do you think changing the camera mounting point will help? Right now it's mounted next to my license plate, so it's about the same height as most passenger cars' headlights. I could mount it in the rear spoiler on top of the van, pointing downwards ...

I don't know yet. I'm having a glare problem at night with the nitemax ultra ccds, but I think it has something to do with the lens. I tried a narrower lens (8mm) and it had no problem compensating. I'll have to give that the drive test this weekend.
Even with the glare, it's much better than the SAVV one I bought.
