basically.

I had to extend each wire individually by:

1. cut wire about 4-6 inches from the and of the harness
2. pull that wire down through all the dashboard crap, because the harness wouldnt come down far enough (this was like 4 years ago so I dont really remember
3. use 2 butt connectors and some 12-14ga multistrand wire to extend the original wire.

I had to do this one at a time because all my "extended wires" were now the same color. It was a complete pain and took me 2 days IIRC. I drove around that entire summer with my interior panels sitting in my dorm room. I suggest doing as much work as possible at once, or be like me and be able to remove your entire interior in 45 minutes or less

I can think of a lot of things I would like to use those things for....

Yeh, I see the potential of your idea. I just need the hardware stuff

I'm not so sure about the sliders though

I imagine you could handle the slider situation using one of these:

R/C Servo Slider

Click the link and do a search for Linear R/C Servo

Incidently, here's another source for parts to help with the knob connection:

Servo Shaft Adapters

I used some of these to hook R/C servos up to my heating duct work in the basement. I may end up using them in the Jeep as the vent controls are not electric but vacuum based! Sounds like fun, eh!
