Post how do you remember to turn off the inverter?

before you get out of your car, how do you remember to turn off the inverter? do you guys have a light installed? or perhaps a beeping noise? I want to do something to remind me to turn it off. Is is possible to make something to make a beeping noise if the inverter is on but the car keys are out of the ignition? or something like that?

thanx

The best thing to do is to wire the inverter using a relay, such that the power to it is controlled via the ignition accessories switch. That way, whenever you turn the key off, the inverter turns off.

I don't agree with Merlin. I think the inverter should still run when you turn off the ignition so you don't have to reboot every time you stop at 7-11 to get a Coke. Most of the time you will remember to turn the inverter off when necessary. My 'puter can run for about 8 hours before the battery dies, so if I'm only stopping for an hour or two I often leave it on. I have left it on overnight a couple of times, though, and the battery has died. So I bought and installed a "Priority Start" (see previous posts) which turns it off automatically if the battery voltage gets too low.

I make an autoshutdown unit. Also serves to start up your ATX motherboard when your ACC line comes on. Details at http://www.dschmidt.com/autooff.html
