Ampie Case information and pictures

I was asked for some more photos of the new Ampie case so here they are:

It's an aluminum case designed for the automotive environment. Works with M1-ATX power supply, it comes with wiring harness to easily connect to the M1-ATX and a quick release harness to connect to your vehicle that allows for easy removal.

I'll update this thread with more information.

It's a nice case. Here are my first impressions:

Pluses:

will accept any size RAM, no "low-profile" requirements
nice wiring harnesses to connect to the M1-ATX and then a harness to connect to your vehicle
nice mounting brackets.
Small size
Looks better then any other case

Negatives:

single fan in the back has a short power wire, not able to reach to connect to the MII12000 board I was using
Blue paint color mismatch between case and metal bracket
Screwing in those black screws into the aluminum case can be hard, it takes effort to keep the screws going in straight.
No room for PCI slots
No room for slot load optical drive
Pretty much have to use M1-ATX power supply so that means no motherboards with a P4 connector.

that looks like one solid case. I wonder how a coat of paint would affect the heat sink?

It looks like a heat sink, but it serves no cooling functions. It has an internal fan just like any other case. I don't see what you couldn't paint it.

I just got this case in from mp3car and it looks good, one thing to note is the 2.5 drive adapter I am using doesnt quite clear the m1-atx. I attached a picture of what my adapter looks like. I should have gotten the adapter from the mp3car store but instead went to frys...

The case looks awesome!

It would be nice if it was available in larger sizes in order to fit an Opus 150W PCB, or at least the 90W one.

The adapter we sell is more compact then that one in the photo.

FYI, the OPUS 90 watt isn't made anymore, it's been replaced with the 120 watt. Neither of them will fit in this case so it really doesn't matter.

Yeah I noticed that. (That's why I said that I was stupid for not getting it from you guys.) I worked around it by moving the case fan to the center hole.

No, I was wondering if the manufacturer makes, or could make a similar case in which the Opus could fit in. I know I'd get one.

As I see it, this is an ideal case for a carpc, as the optical drive is usualy placed in the dash somewhere, and a PCI card is not always needed, thus keeping the case really compact.

Thats a cool case, I like it
Im all about small cases and there seems to be no wasted space there
The Molex connector is a nice touch too

Tad on the expensive side but still cheaper than a Travla
Im lucky enough to have had a guy custom fab me a basic aluminum box for $50. Serves my needs (case isnt even seen)

I received a sample of one of these cases a few weeks ago. It looks very solid and nice -- completely consistent with other car audio equipment. I'd switch over to it but it's a bit larger than my current C134 case so it won't fit in my storage cubby. IIRC, there is actually room to fit two 2.5" drives in there with a M10k.

what about using one of those little square cases for lanners wouldnt' that work any better?
