fried USB ports

Anyone ever fried their USB ports before?

I have had my computer out of the car and did a reformat of the drive and starting installing software.

I went to plug my USB mouse into USB slots on the motherboard and neither worked, no light on the mouse no blub saying unreconized usb device, nothing.

so i try differnet usb devices, saw that windows had all of the hubs and drivers installed, checked the bios settings, still no luck.

so I took on of thoose pci slot usb plates out of my desktop and plugged it into the USB1 connector on the motherboard, and whola! mouse worked.

Anyone ever replace one of thoose usb connector with the ethernet port on it? (biostar m7ncg)

yep, that is what i mean

I am giong to check on the boards warentee after the ny meet, been going crazy tring to get everything back in working order. It is about 6 months old (I think) and even it Biostar RMA's it, I am not sure i want to be without it for that long, seems like it might be fairly simple to just replace the part.

I have a motherboard in my server that no longer has any on board usb ports working. there is no visable damage to the board either. I doubt that replacing the port would do you any good. I just went to newegg and got a 5 port usb 2 card for $10. cheap, easy fix.
