Mitch, if you can release that program to monitor any input device that would really boost the value of the sound blaster mp3+.
I use the Audigy 2Zs notebook but on my original system used the mp3+. It does well for recording via the toslink input, for basic 2 channel input like sirius it would work great with your program.
Do you have a program that would make it so you can lock the Optical In to the master volume?
In the car pc most of us use an app that frodo made to match the wave volume to the maste volume so we have a better rance of volume as we increase and decrease. However nobody has been able to get the optical input to match.

Mitch - Pardon the NOOB question, but I see this runs to the serial port of the computer. I have my engine management ECU going to the serial port, are there other means of getting the signal to the computer?
Again I am learning this as I go and the computers here in Iraq are slow so it makes reading long threads difficult. Thanks for your help.

as for volume, i really dont know anything about the issue your having
alot of optical ins have a fixed input level...
the creative labs SBLIVE optical in, is adjustable
maybe you can explain better
(email me)
BADEVO, a GOOD usb to serial (hard to find... someone needs to post what works, what doesnt when it comes to these thingys)

Mitch, I am having hibernation issues. When I come back from a hibernated state the Sirius won't intialize. I doesn't matter if I completely close out of RR before I hibernate, or if I hibernate from withing RR. To get the Sirius to re-intialize I have to do a shutdown and reboot. Any ideas. The XM hibernates fine, along with all my other USB devices. This is my only serial device, so I don't know if it is an overall serial port hibernation issue or what.

i dont know anything about hibernation
is it a usb to serial adaptor you using?
sounds like your not...
power on the devices is being removed? ie the turn on wire?
if power gets removed from the unit, either constant or red turn on wire
it will need reinit

ahhhh, not having constant power might be it. I've been lazy and have not ran the constant power yet. I have the wall adapter plugged into my inverter for now. Must be it. Thanks.
and no, I am not using a usb to serial adapter.

You're mixing apples and sausages. This is a Sirius thread.
As far as USB->Serial goes, apparently this guy is THE solution:
http://www.pfranc.com/usb/usb.mhtml
I can't vouch for it personally, but I've heard good things. I need another serial port, so I'll probably order one right now.

Edit: Ordered. I'll let you know.

Just ordered one... I will let you all know how it works out, but I do want to through Mitch a Plug for great service. I joined his site last night, on Thanksgiving (it's a major family type holiday in the US for our international members) and PMed him with some questions about his unit. I was shocked this morning when I saw that he had already answered all of my questions.
Great customer service is rare these days and even more so on the net, thanks.

Well so far the USB->serial adapter won't work right after a reboot, and stops the system from suspending
No holy grail of USB serial adapters yet.

Just wanted to let everyone know I received my unit from Mitch today. Super fast shipping to Canada and he was awesome answering pre-sales questions. Can't wait to track down an SIR-ALP1 and hook this up.

edit: nevermind for now until I get a toslink adapter for my XMPCR. I'll let somebody else jump on it that can use it right away. I'll hit you up when I get all my ducks in a row. I'll stick with my analog mixer solution for now. Thanks though.
