Steering wheel control and durability

If I want to integrate the steering wheel control with my car pc can I still place the pc anywhere I like in the car?

Also.. does any ready-out of the box car pc as these ones on the mp3car store perform any different compared to for example a laptop when it comes to shock and climate durability ???

Thanks!

I read the threads but still curious. I drive a 3-series bmw so I guess I have the IBUS problem. Is there such extension possibilities to make these cables reach to the trunk.. probably like 5 meters the "labyrint way through the car"

afaik you are damn lucky to have ibus! just use a ibus-pc adapter...

other cars dont have this, so you must somehow tap into existing wiring which is messy!

there is a ibus wire in the trunk afaik. you might need to disable the cdplayer tho
