BMW multiple IBUS connectors

Hi to all the experts on here, hope someone can answer this for me. I have an e39 with DSP sounf system. I am also adding a CARPC to the vehicle. So to get the sound from CARPC to my sound system I purchassed a Blitzsafe DSP AUX(sound) adapter and connected it to IBUS connector for CD charger in the trunk. This all works. But I would like also to connect IBUS serial interface that I purchased from Reslers.de. But I am unable to find second IBUS connector I can use. Please guide me to where can I find other 4 Pin IBUS connector to use or can I buy a spliter.

Thank you for your help.

I am no expert, and you should definitely check out the HacktheIbus remailer, but, the IBus allows as many devices on it as you can think, though I guess it might be limited at some point based on the available addresses, but your car is NO WHERE NEAR THE MAX. As for another I-Bus connector, here is the deal. Everything that connects to the I-Bus has the connector. The reason people use the CD changer is because it is convenient and available when there is no changer installed.

I have never heard of a "Y" cable for the connection, but I guess it is possible. You could always make your own Y cable. IN fact, there are numerous ways to accomplish this, it is just a matter of how ingenious you are. You can think of the I-Bus connections as the same as a power connection, Positive and ground. You can have as many as you want, you just have to get the "right" connectors and do the wiring.

hey, I just had exactly the same issue with exactly the same car.

Couple of ways to solve it.

I opened up the Soundlinx adaptor (just like the blitzsafe) and connected the serial interface ibus in parallel inside the box. So effectively, my aux adaptor became both an aux adaptor and an ibus interface.

The other way is to simply feed off the wires on the ibus plug. It's a bus meaning it can be used anywhere.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT WIRES, or you will see sparks on the bus, and potentially a fire.

PS. search for E39 on here, plenty of stuff 4 u

Mudilik, that was quick. Already got your question in the I-Bus remailer. Glad to see you read and took the advice.

Thanks, for the help, I will most likely try to split the cable, I am just not sure how to find exactly same connector. Would anyone happen to have a guess on how I can search for one ?

Actually, the connector isn't really that important. Get any type of connector you want, and use those. The connector doesn't do anything special in this situation/case.

My favorite electronics place is www.allelectronics.com though digikey and mouser have a great selection of connectors for you. Try these (http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...ONNECTOR_.html)

To get another IBUS connection using OEM parts available from your local BMW dealership:

Get Part #2 shown here:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...80&hg=61&fg=15

That is the plug that terminates the CD changer (IBUS) connection.

Now, get 3 wires to go into the above plug, part #61 13 0 005 197

Splice those 3 wires into the original CD changer wires and you are you will have 2 identical looking IBUS connections
