Post Laptop keyboard to PS2 Port??

I have just pulled a laptop keyboard out of an old 386 Laptop. Has anyone ever attempted using a controller and putting this to a PS2 port? If so how did you go about it? It is an old mitsumi keyboard. It has two ribbons, one with 8 pins and one with 15 pins?

Help would be muchly appreciated!

Well, I had the same idea.. but, don't know how to do it.. My keyboard is from a 486.. It also has a 8pin connector but not a 15pin, but an 11.. hmm... I don't think it is possible, unless you replace the membrane contact thing, becasue the 2 keyboards would be different.. understand?? lol

Its not that easy to do. The best way that i could think of would be to find a controller that used the same sized matrix, then make a custom TSR to remap the keys back to their correct characters.

This has been discussed before, try searching the buliten board.

Unless anyone else knows of a device that will make this possible, *looks at laptop keyboard sitting on desk..*

Unhappy

I am also stuck with two laptop keyboards from an Noname bare laptop and Compaq with a single ribbon cable(like most modern ones)
I intended to salvage/recycle LCD and Keyboard and Touch pad from the laptops. with my basic PC experience I feel there should be a way of hooking it up with a PC board (say PS2 socket) maybe without full functionality.
Perfect!!., a tsr (do you mean msdos tsr's) can remap the keys!!!
Unfortunately, I have combed this site uptill now for a possible link/clue or solution. Thanks for the hope that it has been discussed here before. In the meantime, I'll continue to comb and hope I find something.
Thanks..

I was thinking about a mini wireless keyboard:
http://www.fentek-ind.com/rf-wireles...rd.htm#kbmrftb

something like that (has a little trackball doohicky too) for controlling, easy to stash out of the way. as its RF, you can be anywhere in the car and not have problems! YAY!
