Aiwa vs. Pionner cd player

I'm trying to decide between an Aiwa cd player and a Pioneer DEH-P2000. The Aiwa has the input on the front, and the Pioneer has it on the back. I have Pioneer in my car now, so i should be able to use the same wiring harness (note: i know very little about car stereos, and since ill be installing this myself, thats a +), but i probbably wouldnt be able to use the same one for the Aiwa, correct?

I just kind of prefer the Aiwa's control layout to the Pioneer's, the location of the input makes little difference, since i will probably just run a wire w/ a connection to the foot well area anyway. I also have some beef w/ Aiwa, mainly cause i got an Aiwa home system and the cd player broke in 2 monhts, and 7 or 8 of my friends have the same type system and the cd player part of it has the same problem. I would imagine the cd player unit is completely different in the car though.

Is the wiring harness included w/ the cd player? Other than that, the prices are the same. WHich would you pick?

yes the wiring harness is included...i would go with they pioneer...i have the 8000 and its great...i work at best buy as pc service tech...dont laugh its just an after school job to play for all the things i want...we just exchange aiwas when they break pioneers actually gets fixed take that however you want...wort think that has happed to pioneers i have see was cd stuck or needed cleaning

My whole stereo system is fitted with Pioneer. Amplifiers to Bass subwoofers. It is reliable company with good background. I agree with the rest Pioneer is better. and wiring harness in the back is better, give it a nicer touch

Hmm pioneer dehp2000 dont have inputs.. my brother bought one 3 months ago.. nothing in the manual and nothing on the box about inputs.. no inputs on the back either.. if you saw something like inputs on the back, it is the PreAmp out..
I guess im the only one, but i disagree with the others. I personally do not like pioneer because their units run hot, sound is overprocessed, and their bass is boomy (tight bass rulez over all!) just my opinion.

One last thing to sum it up : The pioneer P2000 does not have inputs. go to www.pioneerelectronics.com and look around their website for specs on previous car stereos.. just thought id tell u before you bought a stereo that didnt have inputs...

Im pretty sure it does have it, at least thats what the guy trying to sell it to me said. Under the features it says it has an IP bus which i belive includes an AUX input. The guy at the store showed me the new model which is supposedly equivalent but with a color display. I specificaly saw aux input when he scrolled thru the source button. He had to turn on the AUX under some option type of menu, otherwise it would just go from Radio-Cd Player-Off, instead of Radio-CD-Aux-Off. He also said the DEH-P2000 had it.

I didnt ask to see it one the DEH-P2000, but ill definitley double check when i go back. As for the bass (boomy vs tight) i agree that tight bass is 10x better, however, it doesnt make a huge difference on my factory system (which isnt the best, ok it sucks). Maybe if i put in some subs and i can actually tell the difference i'll upgrade.

if it has IP bus connector you will need to get a cd-rb10 or or 20...the only difference is the 20 has an ip bus pass-through and lots more wires to connect for grounding and ****...some people said you can buy it from cruchfield but i haven't seen it online there but i did see it at soundgood http://www.soundgood.com/stereo/stereo.htm under the pioneer accessories

Buy the CD-RB?? direct from Pioneer. Just call them up. I believe that the RB10 is only $35+S&H.

I have the DEH-P85 (top of the line GM/Chrysler perfect fir radio). It has the CD changer control with the IP-bus input. I have the CD-RB10, which I bought from a local car stereo shop for about $40. I can now put any analog audio source into the aux input, and it is absolutely the best set up. Before I bought the DEH-P85, I had a bottom of the line DEH-520. I bought the unit in 92, and only removed in order to upgrade. I gave that head unit to a buddy of mine, installed it in his car, and its still going strong. The only problem I ever had with it was that the backlights wigged out for about a month, then came back on their own. I also have several Pioneer home products, and they are nearly bulletproof. As far as boomy bass, I have run the head unit both with and without subs, and have not noticed boominess.

Damnit, looks like I'll have to spend even more money. Are there any other good cheap (~$150) cd players out there with AUX inputs? I wasnt planning on getting one at all... I guess i could get some cash for the one i have in there. Does anyone know how much i could expect to sell a Premier DEH-36 (on ebay) for? They have a variety of aiwas at good prices.. in their "closeout" area they also have the best aiwa cd player for $170- full flap detachable face cd player, multicolor display.. all the good stuff.. and the other cd players they have some for $150, $180, $200, and $250 (the $250 one is in closeout area for 170)...

of course they all have inputs..

Well I'll just put my two cents in worth here. Ive never owned or really had much to do with a Pioneer head unit, and I assume they are excelent units. As for Aiwa I have a CDZ-106 head with the front aux in. I would have preferred a rear input but I didnt have the cash. My Aiwa is excelent I have never had a problem with it and the sound quality is excelent. I also love the interface. Its very efficient and understated. Clean with style. The buttons feel ok, Id like to have a little more of a 'click' in them but I can deal with it. As for Bass response it outputs nice tight bass unless you use the H-BASS feature which then boosts the bass to an ungodly booming level. The head unit does not distort until you reach about 80% of the total volume...and its LOUD there. Ive got it pushing two JBL 6 1/2's and two Pioneer 6x9's. Well theres my review if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Wow, looks like i may have a new winner. They are even selling the new model pioneer for $160, and i was bout to pay $160 for a much cheaper one. I guess ill get the Aiwa now, its got so much more features...
+ I can't afford (well, dont want to spend) the $40 for that adapter on the pioneer. It seems stupid when they could have put one on the unit for a grand total of 25 cents at the factory.
