i just cant decide...

I have two options... having these white things over my buttons... or not too.

I was unable to use a technique i used prior, because the situation isnt the same, and the faceplate isnt flat like my old design. I was able to achieve 18 perfectly identical holes back then. Instead i had to hand carve the holes in my new faceplate... which obviously leads to each being slightly different than the others, ie asymmertic... and its driving me mad. (its always the simple things that do)

Let me know your personal opinions... do these white things look good? fugly? I recently refinished my faceplate to give it a slightly larger cd slot and to fix the clouded plastic covereing the lcd. (i had some saran wrap on it to protect.. and the bastard went and permenantly discolored the plastic cover... had to replace that). I have the oppurtunity to decide once more... with or without...

notice the saran wrap...

Or the original look...

P.s. they arent exactly regular holes.. they are tapered in an angle... and i wouldnt be willing to purchase any more tools or drill bits for this ity bity task...

I don't think the buttons look bad at all, it gives it good contrast. What would be really cool is if you found a way to backlight them with some green LEDs.

Very slick. My recommendation is to ditch the white background. The straight black looks classy. The white looks like an afterthought. If you're bent on contrast, I agree that backlighting would be the best way to go.

I already have backlighting... thats why i have it tapered.... to make glowing halo's around the buttons....

I dont have pics of backlight operation of this new one yet... but it'll be similar to my old faceplate below.
