VW Golf/2005 Monsoon system - how about a plain old 1/8" input?

Hey guys,

I am new to this forum. I did a bit of reading before I registered, and it seems guys here are using COMPUTERS for their MP3 libraries in the car! That's great! Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of budget or need... I am fine with making playlists on my Creative Zen Xtra that I converted to 100gb.

So, my question is this: is there a way to create an RCA or regular 1/8" input to the monsoon system for an MP3 player or CD or whatever, while still having access to my front single CD player, rear 6-CD changer, and AM/FM radio? There is a tape deck, and I am trying to figure out if I can just plug in my line level player into the head unit's tape input... if there is a such thing.

How do you remove the monsoon system anyhow?

Thanks.... have a great 4th!

Yeah, look for AUX adapter to your stereo system, if you use factory VW's, try crytchfield.com or enfig.com

you will just have to plug it in in the back of your headunit, and press "cd", cause VW have external cd changers, then you plug in your mp3, and violla, you have the audio steaming through your headunit

goodluck,

Yev

P.S. if you wanna go hard way, check out Kbyrd's ost in FAQ imporoum, about adapting a monsoon amp

Well you can buy a tape adapter just about anywhere, those have been common for many years, but it's going to sound pretty crappy (about as crappy as... you guessed it... a tape) or you can buy an FM modulator and listen to your music wirelessly through the radio (which also doesn't give you great sound quality)

VW AUX adapters would plug in where the CD changer would normally plug in (in the trunk, or at the back of the head unit, depending on the adapter) which means you could not still use your CD changer unless you switched the connectors every time.
http://www.indashpc.org/new/adapters/car2pc-vag.html is a source for some very nice adapters.

If none of this is what you're looking for then you might try looking on a VW-specific forum, like vwvortex.
