how does the The i945GTt support Duo 2 ? i can't find any Duo 2's with other than LGA775 socket ? the i945GTt only uses 479 right ? Also FSB is 1066 mhz on Duo 2 and the i945 only runs 667, just a bit confused as to how this will work ?

actually as far as i can tell the Yonah and the Merom are pin compatible, so actually they should be supported by the commell lv677 also. I shall ask commell about this.

As far as I can tell more is involved in compatability between Yonah and Merom cpu's than just the pin count. There is also a bios change needed to support the different voltage. it must be a minor change since these updated bios's are available. I hope there arn't more subtle issues.

Merom and Yonah are pin compatable yes, but they are not neccisarily (im tired cant spell sry guys lol) mobo compatable. Similar to the Core duo and Core 2 duo's, yes its the same pin layout but if the bios dosnt SPECIFICALLY SAY it supports the proc then its a crap shoot. A bios flash might work, but might not. Intel has this problem of making cpus with the same pin layout, but arnt interchangeable nothing new shouldnt expect it to change either lol. AMD on the other hand just had a different socket for everything (when AM2 was initially released there were 4 different proc layouts being fabbed 939, 940, 754, AM2 which btw is 940 pins but its laid out differently from the socket 940 boards so AM2 wont fit in older socket 940 boards lol)

Basically if the box dosnt specifically SAY Core 2 Duo support, then they might be able to do a bios revision they might not. My suggestion is only buy the board if it says it supports it on the box, or on the manufacturers site compatability list (for your mobo of course).

I am not sure if the post by dopehead has been cleared up.
is there a question if the aopen i945GTt will take a cure 2 duo merom?
It should and the new bios required is available.
As to socket LGA775 that is the socket for core 2 duo conroe which obviously would not be supported by this mobo which is for socket 439 merom.
Both are core 2 duo. It is confusing and to be correct the intel official designation should be used (I guess).
The core 2 duo merom socket 438 is T7400.
The core 2 duo conroe socket LGA775 is E6xxx, where xxx is a sub grouping relating to speed.
The i945GTt should take the T7400 (merom). I wouldnt upgrade the word "should" to "can" untill one of you guys buys and runs the board. I wouldnt want to be to close the the "bleeding edge".
As for front side speed 1066 is a max and 667 is also listed. You could run at either but i think you also need the right northbridge. The i945GTt cant run at 1066 but could run at 667 with a 1066 cpu.
I hope i didnt confuse things more.
