hiding ir receiver in air vent
just been tinkering with my player and ive got it installed but thinking about a few changes and one of which would block where i currently have the ir recevier for my irman. Just wondering if i could take a wire and extend the actual small receiver from the pcb board and hide it in the air vent. That also brings up my second question, would the heat/cool do any bit of damage to it? could it fog up the lens on the ir receiver? just thought id toss that out there. If no go then ill just figure some where else to mount, just an idea though.
Thanks in advance

GrandAmp3....why go through all that headache. Take the thing apart like i did for all my setups. De-solder the eye. Solder on three LONG (thats right LONG) wires the and run that wire to where ever u want in the car and then solder the eyes back on. If you really want a CLEAN cut setup, then put the eye in the same display for ur setup...so i.e if u have a 40x4/20x4 LCD and u used one of those radio shack project but, TRUST me, there is space in there to fit 2-3 eyes if u wanted. Also if u have a TFT screen, it is also possible. Take a look at all my setups and u will see what i mean.

Note that in certain circumstances, extending wires like this can introduce a lot of interference. Best to use shielded cable.

Yeah, as long as it is shielded, then he should have no problem extending it.
