M7NCG 400 7.2 Won't Allow Me To Change Power Button Behavior

Hi everyone,

I am using a Biostar M7NCG 400 7.2 with an Opus 150w PS. I had previously used an MSI board that allowed me to change the behavior of the power button to allow the computer to hibernate or standby when it was pressed. Unfortunately, this option doesn't show up when used with the M7NCG 400. This makes the shutdown controller on the Opus basically useless to me as I need it to hibernate. Right now, when the power button is pressed, the computer does a hard shutdown.

Has anyone else ran into this problem? Does anyone know if this is even possible for this board?

I set my biostar system to hibernate in the control panel. I also had my Opus specifically made for the Biostar M7NCG motherboard. That can, maybe, be the issue...

Well, the option isn't even available in my Control Panel, even with a different power supply. The problem is that Windows doesn't think the motherboard supports it for some reason. I have ACPI enabled.

okay, im about to go to my car in a few minutes Ill let you know what my power setting in the bios is. But I know I never messed with the power settings S3 and alike, I only updated my bios to the latest update. Ill post back shortly to see if it helps.

The power supply has nothing to do with this.
Go into the BIOS setup and make certain that S1, or S1+S3 power management is enabled.
You may have to do a complete Windoze install to get the ACPI components installed correctly.

Yea, jut check nothing I can see in the bios... only thing i can say is to reset the bios back ton factory default, and work from there. I probably has to do with the windows install, i agree. I had the same setup for a couple years, as long with my friends who bought the same setup after me, and never had any issues like this, even after tons of reformatting. Good luck, you'll be good to go in the end.

You guys were correct, another XP install with ACPI enabled in BIOS did the trick. The last time I disabled it because Windows liked to freeze at the setup XP splash screen, but apparently that wasn't the issue, because I installed with ACPI enabled and the options are showing up.
