Im not saying that hibernate is the only way or the best way to go with a car system, but for my routine, it works best and i feel least concerned with my cars power supply going this route. To be honest, even with 1gb of ram and a 4200rpm hard drive, most of my boot-up time is from POST and memory test at power-on. The resume from hibernate takes all of like 5 seconds or so.

Thats good, its what fits you best. Alot of people have a different "routine" so to speak, when they get in their car. Me, I normally start driving about 5 seconds after unlocking my doors. So like you said, it depends on what best suits you. For me its s3, for you its hibernate, neither is better. Although the fact that s3 could eventually drain my battery does make hibernation better if you dont drive your car everyday.

Yea, and besides, you cant get a better deal on a MiniITX motherboard at this time that comes with as many options as this one does. For me, thats its best selling point. One downside, im not sure if its the motherboard or my particular usb dvd drive, but i can't for the life of me figure out how to make it bootable. Its the Lite-On slim slot load 8x dvd+-rw on newegg. I probably wont ever need to worry about it since ill bring it inside if i ever need to reinstall windows, but it would have been nice in case i ever needed to run microscope to do system diagnostics and tests if i ever run into problems down the road.

With the BIOS setted to USB-CDROM boot doesn't work? I tried to boot with CF, but found out that only certain CF cards are bootable

Ive tried all combinations of settings in the BIOS to make my DVD bootable to no avail. I never did try it with the original BIOS thou, so i dont know if that has anything to do with it. The drive works amazingly well from inside Windows thou, so its just a boot issue i am having. To be honest, between that and the normal crappy-ness of the M2-ATX that has been well documented on the forums, those seem to be my only two problems to sort out with my install. I already made a workaround by mounting a remote reset button into my center console to get the board to kick on properly at startup, and once i figure out this dvd bootable issue which i think is more my drive being incompatible than the board not working right, i can give my car that 100% complete on build phase. Software phase will never end thou.

Does anyone know where to get an opengl driver for the video card on this board? I am trying to get the roadrunner google earth pluggin working & it is working except the video card is mostly showing black polygons under directx mode. Same thing with Goops. I was hoping to try opengl mode & see if that helps. Thanks.

Ive used google earth directly on this board and it worked fine. Just make sure you are using the video drivers for the VT8237R chipset and not the PM800 chipset. Also, just to update, version 6 of the BIOS flash is available. Says something about DRAM fix. Maybe this is the fix we have been waiting for compatibility issues with the M2-ATX? I will update BIOS over the weekend to find out if it works better and check back in here with results.

Google earth works fine for me too, however when the roadrunner plugin is used, there are black polygons. I will check the driver, but I though we were to use the CN700 driver?

The CN700 drivers are correct, but are not your graphics drivers for this motherboard.

If you are having problems with google earth embedded in a front end, contact the person who made the front end and talk with them. If it is working fine running directly thru windows, its not your graphics card, its the code the skinner used thats got a bug somewhere.

Has anyone else taken thru plunge with the A6 BIOS yet? I havent gotten around to it yet. Ive been busy trying to sell my other car today, and orbital sanding my sideskirts for my car so i can send them in to be painted this week, but thats neither her nor there regarding this thread.

GFridrich3,
Thanks for the info. I decided to recheck GE running alone, and it seems I was wrong. It does indeed have the problem, however only offline using the cache. Online, it works. Strange. Can anyone else verify this with this mobo 's onboard vga?

It says here at viaarena.com that the VT8237R driver is for a VIA IDE Falcon Storage Device Driver on the a south bridge chip. R U sure this is a graphics driver??? Or is there somewhere in particular you are aware of that has this driver??

I'm quite apprehensive about upgrading my bios from what it came with. Unless that is causing me there problems...

You want the S3 UniGraphics Chrome Hyperion video drivers. Im not sure what they are, but the ones you can download directly from Jetway caused me problems too. I will have to figure out which drivers i am using and where i put the install package and will get back with what im using.

Ok, I updated the bios to v5 & it seemed to go well. I was going to go straight to v6, but noticed that file is only 32k vs 512k for the v5, so I figure something must not be right with it. The only change I see is that is now notices the c7 processor as noted previously.

It didn't help my google earth problem. I even have the latest directx. I dunno... Maybe if u find that driver it will do the trick... It would be much appreciated.

Sorry to throw the thread off a little but my jetway c7 board seems to be acting strange. I got all the hardware and software installed(in the car) on the 15th and was running fine but just yesterday(17th) I was watching a movie and the board just shut off. The fan and hard drive was still running but i could get any visuals to come on. I rebooted and it would tell me that it doesn't detect a hard drive. I reseted again and now the board just beeps. at first I thought that it was my m2-atx but i took it inside and used my other psu which i use for my other home computer and it still did the same thing. I think that bios got all messed up or something. the only thing I had changed in bios was disable keyboard and floppy detection. Maybe it could use a bios reflash huh? I dk. Please help.

xcha, are you in cold weather? So Cal. has been getting cold weather and sometimes I would get no VGA signal from the computer. Ithought it was my LCD, but I connected my laptop and it worked. When the mobo didn't send signal, the fan, and harddrive seems to be on.

I don't know why it's happening, but it's annoying!

Bumping and old thread here, but I am considering this board and Im wondering if you guys could post your boot and wake from hibernation times with this board?
I also noticed above that there may be cold weather issues with this board? Can someone confirm? Cartft.com did a test on this board and their results indicate operation was fine even at -40C.

There are different rev. of the same product. I got this board when it first came out and it has the cold boot problem. They MIGHT have fixed it by now. I couldn't stand it...so I'm using a different board now.

Boot times will depend on multiple factors besides just the board....but i think I've got 20 sec from hibernation...I'm sure it can be done faster.

Unless you are getting this board for free....you should try other boards out there. There are A LOT to choose from..intel little valley series which are pretty cheap.
