SP13000 freezes at VIA logo

Ok, I have the VIA SP13000 MB with 512 MB of RAM, etc. etc.

When we were testing the system sometime the system would freeze right when the VIA logo would appear. It would just stay there. Pressing ctrl-alt-del would make it reboot but it would end in the same place. After a couple of reboots it would finally boot into the OS. When this freezing happens, I get the one beep POST, so everything should be fine.

We have not had this issue but now it reappeared now that the carpc is in the car. I restarted and restarted it, but to no avail. It just stays at the VIA logo and goes nowhere, but I do get the one beep.

Has anyone had this problem? What could be it?

It seems alot of people are having issues with the 13000 and 15000.

I had the same problem as you until I unplugged my usb devices. Now things work fine. I found that it was my iPod that caused the freezing. I also disabled the boot image and it would definately lock up because the words on the bottom of the screen were not even completed words. Very strange.

Well, all of a sudden it started working again. Sometimes I also get messages stating that the boot devices have changed, to press F1 to continue. Weird.

Ok, yesterday the computer went past the VIA logo but could not find the HD. So, we took the computer out and brought it inside the house for testing.

After turning it on it again froze at the VIA logo. I turned it off and disconnected the HD power. Once that was done, it will go past the VIA logo without any problems. So, it seemed that the HD was the problem.

I read somewhere in the forum that if the HD was set to Master, sometimes this would happen. So, I removed the HD and set it to CS. Booted up perfectly fine. Weird.

Ooh thanks! I will definately have to try this. I still can't get mine to boot up with the ipod or other hard drives plugged in...

Ok, the damm thing is freezing back again. It seems that after it hasn't been used, then it's turned on, it freezes at the logo. This is ****ing me off, I need something that is consistent and this is not consistent
