1) Would this product give my mobo 2 extra usb and 2 extra firewire ports? How would I go about powering those or connecting them up? I am thinking the smaller prongs are for that purpose.

2) For external enclosure DVD drive, would there be a huge difference b/w using firewire or usb? I already have a usb ran, so was planning on using that.

Any recommendations for powered usb hubs? Ie no personal problems with the hub after hibernation or something else. Thanks!!

What product? We can't answer any of tehse questions without knowinbg what product you're referring to.

A USB enclosure will require external power. A Firewire enclosure may or may not require external power.

Sure. Read the FAQs and the POwer Supplies forum. Searching would be helpul too, I think. There are lots of options from using your PSU to a seperate POL PSU that have been discussed many, many times.
