xmd1000 help

i have a xmd1000 that i am trying to connect to my truckputer
i have it hooked up by serial cable and powered off of the trucks battery
and i have not been able to get any sound out of the unit or anything

here is what i have
xmd1000, serial connection have triple checked the cable according to the guide and using a meter it is all good
have tried the audio out to the line input to both my laptop and my truckpc
have also tried it in roadrunner and frodoplayer

it is my understanding that i should get some audio on the preview channel if everything is connected properly, i bought the xmd1000 used and i am afraid it is dead is there anyway to check it or can you guys give me any ideas what i may have wrong ?

Have you tried running Hyperterminal to see if there is any raw data coming into that serial port?

Well, that means 5 possible things:

1- Your XM antenna does not have line of sight to the satellite. Try moving it outside or near the window.

2- Your XMD1000 device is not getting power.

3- A cable is loose somewhere.

4- Your serial cable is wired wrong.

5- Your XMD1000 device is dead.
