Seat Ibiza Mk4 Alana Head Unit - need sound in!

Finally my car pc is about as finished as it probably ever will be, with mini itx in the boot, sub woofer, working touch screen. Hibernates with ignition starts up with the car, wifi all working and syncing new mp3s from PC at home. Its excellent.

The only issue left in this long journey is that the sound is transmitted via an FM transmitter to 88.0FM which ive preset into the head unit, so i just press 6 to get carpc sound. Its great.

But my screen sat above the Head Unit causes a bit of interference on the FM and theres a general hiss behind the audio. Im finding myself switching the screen off to reduce it, but then theres a bit of interference from the PC itself. So you never hear dead silent especially when the audio is up loud.

My head unit is the alana one installed as standard in the Seat Ibiza FR Mk4. I do not want to change my head unit as im only having this car for another year and my next car wont accomodate a standard head unit. Ive heard that there is an adapator you can get to get sound in through the CD Changer. I dont have a CD Changer but if i can make use of the CD Changer port at th eback of the head unit then i`d be a very happy person!

Someone mentioned somethin gabout an SDIF connection or something like that. Basicalykl yo uneed to food the head unit into thinking it has a CD Changer when really its just the audio out from the car PC.

Can someone please help! Many thanks. Where do i get one? How much?
Many thanks!
When i get round to it i`ll put some updated pics in "show off your project" i did last year when i used to use my laptop in the boot but now i have a proper mini itx box and its sweeeet!

Metra makes a lot of adapters for VW's... and since SEAT and VW share a lot of components.. I would start looking there if I were you....

I dont really know their website... since they are just the brand that we find here everywhere at every car stereo shop

I did a quick google search and found this though:
http://indashpc.org/new/adapters/car2pc-vag.html

that might be the ultimate solution for you...

Hi every one, sorry to bring back an old post. With the adaptor you bought, were you able to retain the use of your steering wheel buttons? Also have you been able to fool the headunit into displaying CARPC or something similar instead of CD6? Cheers mate, looks like a nice setup. I have been planing to put a computer in my Ibiza FR since the day I got it. Might get round to it one day.
