Power button (MKIV VW specific question)

I'm thinking about getting extra switch (see pic below) to be used a "master" power button for the PC and the monitor. I don't know much about vehicle electronics so I need to know if someone on here has done that or think it's fairly easy to implement, possibly get some insight.
Reasoning behind this is simply OEM look and I make short trips daily and I don't want the PC to start every time I start the engine.

nope - haven't made the change. I added the switches inside the glove box because I didn't want the computer to turn on when and if we had to valet the car or if I had to take it in to be worked on at the dealership.

I have a pair of switches for the PC (one as a reset and another to completely cut power), and another pair for the Alarm as well.

The switch (in OFF position) could instruct shutdown controlled to shut the PC down?

If I put the on/off switch to off, the computer will not boot up with the ignition. It basically opens the circuit.

If I need to reset the computer, I just hit the reset button.

I'm running the M1, so it handles the start-up shut-down features as needed. The switches are to bypass all of that.

If the switch was in the ON position and the PC was on, then I would put the switch to OFF position - would that make the shutdown controller shut down the PC? Or would you still have to manually turn the PC on? And vice versa.

It depends on how your circuit is configured. If the switch controls the master power for the PC, if you open it (sw in off), the power to the PC will be cut, and it will not have enough time to shutdown (unless it is a laptop with a working battery, of course). If the switch controls the ingnition pin in your shutdown controller (i.e. you wire it instead of the ignition switch of the car), if you open it will have the same effect as putting your ignition switch in off, normally instructing your PC to shutdown.

I purposely waited a year just to bring this thread back

Never got around making the switch work until now.
Didn't look in to how these stock switches work until now and what I've found is that it needs to be debounced.
Now, does anyone know if Carnetix CNX-P2140 is capable of providing debouncing before I go and start hacking the switch?
Has anyone on here with MKIV done this? And how did you do it?
