Thinkpad T20. No signal to external monitor

I'm trying to use my thinkpad T20 as a JEEPUTER. I can't seem to get it to send a video signal to the external monitor port. I've set the BIOS to start both LCD and VGA. I've also tried every imaginable setting in the CONTROL PANEL graphics settings. Including setting up the dual monitor options and setting resolution of monitor 2 to match the natural state of my XENARC 700TS. I also checked the box that says to apply the desktop to both monitors. Can anyone tell me if I've missed something?! Thanks lots.

this might be a stupid answer but have you try the monitor key on the keyboard? I've had a couple thinkpads (different models) that require a button to be pressed to switch screens.

click thinkvantage, go to device configuration, display device and click dual display + analog. That's what I do on my t60 to get it to work.

Red face

Tried control F7 to switch between the three settings (LCD,Monitor,Both). Fooled around with the display settings, including the dual monitor settings, and filled in the check box that says "extend my windows desktop to this monitor". Tried booting with, and without the external monitor connected. Updated display drivers. Can anyone think of something I might have missed? I'm starting to think the VGA port went bad. Thanks for the replies guys.
