sound quality of wafer 7850 ?

To all you wafer 7850 owners out there...

I am curious about the sound quality provided by the Intel 815e chipset.

Could you listen to a high quality MP3 or WAV file using the wafer 7850 and another PC with a different sound card?

Please use the same listening device, like headphones, to best discern the differences. Try and keep all sound options the same between the two listening stations, like 3D audio.

List what "other" sound chip your PC has and then try and state the differences you hear.

For example (I'm making this up!):
the wafer setup has less pronounced mid-range than my SB Live!

I would like to hear your feedback before I commit to purchasing a wafer 7850 board myself.

Thanks,
Brandon

I think u will find a expansion card sound card like a Live! or Audigy/etc will have a better quality of sound than an on-board rival....

I had read your post with wafer 7850 questions, to which cenwesi replied:

"As for sound/dvd/divx, there is NO flaw there."

I would like for those owners of a 7850 board to elaborate more on the sound quality.

The reviews of the Espresso and Cappuccino (EZGO?) small PC's over at the ARS Technica site felt the sound quality wasn't quite up to par. The Espresso uses the Intel 810 chipset while the Cappuccino uses the Intel 810E chipset.

Reviews here:
http://www.arstechnica.com/reviews/2...spresso-1.html

http://www.arstechnica.com/reviews/0...puccino-1.html

What is the quality of sound from the Intel 815e chipset on the wafer 7850 board?

Thanks,
Brandon

ok let me just try and elaborate. This weekend i had the wafer running playing mp3 and what not. I can NOT tell any flaw. Keep in mind that my box in the stang has the sb 5.1 live sound card. And again i still can NOT tell the diff. I am NOT a picky person when it comes to sound. If there are any flaws, i am sure i would have noticed it. One other thing to keep in mind is that this board is NOT cheap. I mean u are paying $330 for this thing, dont you think they would atleast give you a better sound output. I mean this thing comes with so much goodies for them to over look the sound issue. Anyway, if you are really picky about sound then i doubt you will be disapointed with the output of this board
