Via Epia MII12000 Blown Part

Hi there. While working on the case to my computer, I committed a thinking error. Consequently, when I applied power to my computer, the magic smoke come out of some SOT-23 part (which is the opposite of the desired effect). However, when I tried to look at the part under a microscope to see what it was to try to replace it (after attempting to repair my other board), the magic smoke that previously made it work basically fried the top part off whilst escaping.

Here's the location of the part in jpeg form:

I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out and identify what part this is. All of the markings on top would be nice. I intend to replace it (I have the tools at work). It is, after all, cheaper to do that then buy an new motherboard. I know it's a little 6 pin SOT-23, but other than that, I have no idea.

Also, please excuse the sheer slowness of the connection to the server with the picture and the fuzziness. I couldn't find my digital camera, so I used my phones. It's not the best.

Thanks!

Unhappy Please?

No one has an Epia MII that they can take a magnifying glass to? I just need a part number (and orientation preferably). If you don't feel like it, but have digital camera, take a (non-fuzzy unlike mine) picture.

Perhaps I should use broken English. That seems to get the job done a little better.

That sure did make me laugh, but I don't have a MII. Free bump though!

I have a broken MII1200 I will try to remember to look at this tonight and let you know...

also since you have the means to fix them... can I possibly send you mine.. it has one part "without smoke in it" on the bottom that needs replacing...

I am willing to pay for the fix...

I'm going to say probably although I'd rather not say "yes" without having looked at what part and what is wrong with it (if traces are also pulled up, etc.). As far as I am concerned I don't mind, I'm only limited by time, parts, and the hope that the broken part is not a BGA or some other unfixable part.

The way I think it will work out the best is this: you buy the parts, ship it to me with the parts in the box. If you need me to look up the parts on my board, I can do that too. I fix it, ship it back with the money you've supplied for shipping.

But of course, we can work out the details through PM/AIM, etc.

Let me know what you think.

hmm, looks like the MII10000 and the MII12000 have different board designs. Here's a pic I snapped, guess it's not going to help

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but that's not the part I'm looking for. Thank you for the quite clear picture, but it's the wrong side. The part that's blown is kind of in between the ATX power connector and the stacked PS/2 mouse and keyboard jacks. It's off of the corner from an imaginary line drawn between the corner of the power connector and the corner of the VGA and RS-232 stacked connector.

Thanks for the beautiful picture of the low power dual op amp though! It's beautiful!
