My VIA motherboard can't support vista??????
I have a Via EPIA MII 12000 motherboard (CLE266 chipset). I couldn't find graphics drivers fior it so I emailed via to find out what was happening.
I just got this message from Via:
Dear Sir,
The CLE266 chipset can not support Windows Vista. We still do not have a board for our latest chipset CN896 that supports Vista.
Best Regards
Derek Lin

WTF - I'm not entirely sure what he's saying but it seems to me like via are goign to ditch all their old motherboards and push them aside to save them the work of developing drivers for them.
Anyone got any ideas what's going on? Do i need a new motherboard?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Baz

it's pretty obvious. I mean, you're not going to try Win2K on a 486 either, do you?

Well, I can run vista at 1024 x 768 and it works fine. But I just need graphics drivers to make it run at 800 x 600 at 75Hz. I don't think that it would be too much of an issue to do that.

I really don't understand why people keep saying Vista is slow or a CPU hog because I have had no speed or running issues at all.

Cause Windows Vista is not the great deal for carpcs especially the Mini-ITX systems, Windows XP and 2K are the most compatible and stable for that application, if you plan to use Windows vista you'll need to resolve many issues about hardwares, drivers, resolutions and front ends.
Personally i am not with the bill gates's products at all, but there is no other stable way right now, still waiting for linux.....
Peace.

If you really want a stable car-pc running vista..... You're gonna need a big fat POWER-HUNGRY beast!

I want to run origami experience on the car PC. So i need vista.
It has all the things I need and runs and looks better than any front end I've tried.
And I can run Vista at 1024 x 768 @60Hz with no problems whatsoever, I do not need upgrades or anything else. But origami needs full screen at 800 x 600 so i need to be able to adjust my monitor to 75Hz. I need a graphics driver to do this.
That's all I need.
Cheers

Maybe I'm way off here, but I thought that the Origami Experience was for Origami SFF tablet PCs, not standard-issue hardware....
