found a good device to emulate keyboard commands

Hey,

I was reading this how to http://www.awaremag.com/tweaking/mamebox/mamebox_1.html

some of you may have seen it, about a guy making an arcade box with a PC for his living room. Anyway, he used something he called an I-Pac which connected between his joystick and buttons and computer and simulated keystrokes (via included software).

His product link wouldn't work for me, (it's mentioned on page 5), has anyone else seen this?

Yeah. I use it on my own arcade.

Here's the link:

And there's tons of more info at BYOAC:

Good luck.

Oh, BTW, the IPAC is $39 + Shipping ($12 to US).

hmm that's a bit expensive, I'd rather just rip apart a keyboard

does it emulate specific keys, or keystrokes? Like can it emulate CTRL + 1 or something.

Yeah, it's a bit much for a Car MP3 controller. But it works like a dream for an arcade machine.

It only sends kepresses for each button. If you wanted to send a combo (Alt+F4, etc), then maybe you could set up Girder http://www.girder.nl/ to do that on a specific keypress. Oh, and what each button sends is completely programmable.
