Video Recording for CarPC

hi

im looking at setting up a car pc

what i would like to know is whats the best option for capturing/recording video

i want to have incar footage for hillclimbs/track days
i would also like to be able to link the video and telemetry from the ecu (can just have that displayed on a screen in front of camera if easier)

are usb cameras easiest?, or is it best to have a video input?

so far the plan is
mini atx mobo
pretty quick processor (whatever is supported by the mobo)
at least 1gb ram
big hdd (at least 200gb)
decent power supply
dvd burner
7" touchscreen

as well as, but not important
audio out
gps

any ideas, help would be awesome
cheers

The easiest way is to get a usb video capture device, like this , along with a decent CCD camera, like this. Make sure the lens gives you the field of view that you want. Usb cameras normally use CMOS imagers which don't produce a very good image IMHO. Then add a video overlay device like this to add gps or ecu output to the video before recording to the hdd.

Most tv tunnes or video capture devices usually require 2.0 p4.

Will epia M1000 be able to cope with this devices ?

I opened a thread but nobody answers

I've recorded video on the setup that I described (minus the overlay device). I used a Kworld TV Tuner with a small board camera plugged into the composite in. I have an Epia 6000 (800 MHz cpu). Recording was fine.
