Wiring suggestions
I currently got the M2-ATX connected to my car with a molex connector. Doubled the ground and using the yellow wire for +12v main power and the red wire for accessory remote. I wanted to ask what you guys are using to connect their power supply? Is there some other 3 contact connector that would be more suitable?
I'd rather not hard wire it as I want to be able to take it out of the car since I don't drive during the week anymore. Just weekends so the CarPC comes in the house and I can load it up, tweak it, or I run it as another PC in the house for internet or as a media box.
The M2-ATX is wired to the battery (+/-) but the remote wire comes off my amp which turns on when the head unit comes on. Is this okay to do? It pretty much acts like a power switch but I'm not sure if it's okay to turn on both the amp and carPC with the same signal. Seems to work as when I power off the head unit, it will put the carPC to hibernate. Before I had XP set to hibernate, I had to try to reboot while on the road and turning off the HU was an easy way to shutdown.
Right now my screen is connected to the main accessory wire that my head unit it wired to so that as soon as the key goes to accessory or on, it can power up to be opened.
Also, my sub woofer amp isn't huge and I might be getting a 1 farad cap, would it be okay to run the amp and carPC off of that or will I induce some line noise?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
