Sirius USB Adapter

Hope this is the correct forum for this question ...

I'm looking at MJS's SC-C1 USB Interface for Sirius ... but I have a question ...

Where does the unit get power from? I see there's an input for a power supply ... but the "What's Included" doesn't list an external power lead ...

Anyone use this device before? What should I use for power? Does it power off of USB?

it's 12 volts, so it's not powered from USB, which is 5v. It can be powered from your computer supply's 12v line, or car 12v power. I don't recognize the connector though. Ask MJS or on their forum about that.

its a regular 2.1mm power jack. It needs regulated 12v power, so from the PSU is the only option. If you power it from your car it will go kaboom.

When I bought mine from mp3car a year and a bit ago, it came with a power jack that you need to solder.

All the instructions are in the manual.

Mitch emailed me ... there's a terminator in that connector when they ship, so I can terminate raw wireand everything will work.

Thanks!

Is this the same with the serial cable? Can I connect it to the car directly? I heard that the XM DIRECT can accept unregulated power.

No the XMD can accept un-regulated 12V power.

Haven't seen the SCC1 in with a serial interface ... I think it's just USB.

the sc-c1 uses 12v unregulated... all regulation is done inside the SC-C1 Tuner!!!

using a SC-C1 on a SC-H1 IS NOT RECOMENED
and if powered via THE SC-C1 Interface, damage may occour

ie dont mix the home with the car

(there is a way to do it... but unless u need optical, dont bother with sc-h1)

Yup, the SC-H1 requires 5V. I have a Audigy 2 NX sound card with 1 optical input so I took advantage of the SC-H1's optical out, which is why I went that route. Audio sounds really crisp with it.

really? wow. Well now I can power it off the regular car line instead of a wire hanging outside the PC case to it!
