old skool'er needs some help

I'm thinking about getting back into the carputer game. Its been a Very long while since I've been on the board as the picture below shows.

I build a Caputer years ago with a 20 Gb HD, ATI PCI video card, PC-104 mobo and one of the first Opus ATX power supplies.

Well now I'm looking for a simple computer that will run an internet browser, has video out to my Alpine IVA-D310, USB so I can run MP3's (or maybe movie's)of a memory stick, I want a solid state OS drive, and have the option for a bluetooth keyboard, and QUIET since the Carputer is right behind me, and auto shutdown.

I'm going to start searching but I wanted to post to see if someone had a solution for my lazy butt.

Thanks. and good to be back

man.. there are just so many ways to build a car-computer I dont know where to start. look at other peoples setups and get some ideas. look up some specs and write down everything that you are looking for. if you want quiet... dont get the voompc unless you take a few fans out. (not reccomended) Those fans are LOUD.

Really man... do some searching and look at some reviews. Do you have a budget in mind? are you doing a touchscreen install? indash? the list can go on and on.

Yeah, ever since they switched from tubes to silicon, life got very complex!!!

Seriously, from what you're asking, I would say to check out the Little Valley Intel mobo, the fanless version. There is a rather long discussion thread here Should give you some food for thought.

It's relatively inexpensive, can be used with a SS drive, quick enough, quiet enough and expandable.

That whole "I just wanna" mentality quickly changes once you start seeing what can be done these days with the people here on the forums constantly developing new ways to spend your cash on toys and gizmos!

I started the same way, and then it was hmmmmm, GPS, tire pressure monitoring systems, climate control integration, etc. etc. etc.

Good luck to you, and welcome to the madness!

I've been reading that thread and everything looks good but no s-video out, so thats a deal breaker as I have no other input on my Alpine IVA-d310.

my search continues

There's always the VIA M10000. Old, but will do what you're asking for.

Also, here are some systems that will give you the basics.
