Input factory lcd display

I have a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder(non-nav). It has a factory 7" lcd display which displays climate control/radio/temp etc.

If I were to replace the factory lcd with car computer or dvd headunit, would it be possible to input the factory display into the new lcd? Anyone ever done anything like this before? I would love to replace the display but obviously cannot lose the ability to see the climate control information etc.

If you can find out what kind of signal is being sent to the factory LCD, you can look for a converter of some sort.

I know of one install where someone stowed the factory LCD along with a camera inside the dash or something. He hooked the camera up to an input on his new LCD so he could see the climate control and such.
