Newbie help / my carputer comparison sheet

I've started a comparison spreadsheet (.xls) of some of y'alls carputer projects. This may help some newbies out by providing a shopping list of parts.

http://www.statikdesign.com/scratchb...parison1.0.xls

I'm not trying to pass it off as even partially complete (I went through the project forum and some sigs) but it took me the majority of the night to paste it together. A part of that is b/c I went on most ppl's sites and read about their install

As usual, comments/additions are welcome.

BTW, perhaps we should just start a thread where we post links to FAQ's and other websites with info? No discussion allowed (plenty of other threads for that), just links. I know there are other ppl who have made a FAQ and it would be nice to link to them all in one place.

maybe you should transform it to a non-MS file format so that ppl that don't use MS office can open the file (say, an HTML table)

Yeah I thought about that for the final version. It's just that I like all the sorting features of Excel and it would be quite wide as a html table for printing. This way in Excel I have my page breaks setup. I know I can sort html tables with JS and set page breaks with CSS, but I don't think people will use this enough for me to go through all that trouble. Correct me if I'm wrong, but FAQ's and other stuff doesn't stay around much. Ppl seem to prefer other methods of getting their info.

Back when I had a Mac, ClarisWorks would import .xls files no problem.

Woohoo! domo's back! And I can't help but notice that vw's have an overwhelming majority on that list And actually, I don't think I've updated my "Show Your Project" thread, but I'm now running an EPIA M 9000 system .

Thanks bgoodman, but I meant that I didn't want to code the sorting/printing features into the html.

I've now updated it using info from sigs:

HTML Table (a monster)
Excel File (.xls)
