Didn't mean to hijack your thread...hijack.

Its fine, as you can see Ive thread jacked my own thread to something else. What PSU are you thinking of? I know a HDD will fit perfect, the PSU is a different story since it has so many wires coming from it. This is the other reason that I am using the mobo listed. It uses a standard adapter plug. I plan to use EWF and HORM so that the system can be just switched off without corruption. This will allow me to not have to worry about all the drive cables, mobo cable and what not. Bad thing is I dont think the hibernate like a normal MoBo because the mobo has no control over the power adapter. You can pretty much make anything fit, just depends on how much your willing to mod.

Well I decided to take the original Mobo out and use a up to date Atom Mother Board. To be specific the D945GSEJT. It is as thin as the original motherboard, but obviously 3 million times more powerful. The HDD will be connected to lid of the case. There is alot of space by using this thin motherboard.

I have the M4-ATX sitting on my desk at home. That's the one I'm planning to use, but I think it with - as you mention - all the cables will be too much to fit in the Thin Client.

The hard drive I mounted on a piece of plexi and secured the plexi to the Thin Client using one of the screw holes already in it and a zip tie.

I'm thinking I might have to mount the M4 externally, which I'd REALLY rather not do, but it's not looking like I have an option at this point.

OH wow, it actually fits in there! I actually got in touch with Mini-Box and they said I can use the Atom board thats thin. Infact they actually told me that one M4 will power 2 of these mobos at the same time. So I intend to keep the M4's in a rear compartment and just run wires to the PCs since they only use one plug like a laptop.

PS: looking at your pix, I think you can get the M4 in there. You will have to shorten the wires but it is doable. Actually post some pix of it next to your setup. Also is that the updated thin client version? The one with the PCI slot add on? Yours has way more room then mine.

Yeah, it had the expansion PCI card, I really like the case.

I have a piece of plexi for the M4 to mount on, but I have to get the standoffs/screws/holes all working the way they should. I read a thread earlier today - someone was going to shorten their ATX cables for their DC PSU (Forget if it was an M2 or M4 they were working with), but I have it bookmarked at work not at home.

OK, I have a question. I plan to use EWF and HORM, but I am lost at how much RAM I should use. I planned to simply use 1GB, but if I plan to write to it, should I have more? The systems hold a total of 2GBs. Should I just max them out?

How important is boot time to you? I'm running 2GB of RAM, and my resume from hibernation is unbelievably slow. Maybe there's something with my hardware (thinking slow HD), but my cold boot is much faster [Cold boot: <30 sec, Resume from hibernation: >45sec]. So I just cold boot now.
When you get around to installing EWF, you can use the 1GB you have and monitor the memory usage (I believe the command is ewfmgr -gauge...or something like that). If you're running out of space, you can upgrade to the 2GB.

Boot time is very important to me. Thing is I will be running special copies of Windows that are really slimmed down. Hibernation should alwayssssssssss be faster. Seeing that these systems will only have 2 USB devices, HDD and thats about it, it should cold boot really fast. With HORM it should boot even faster. Im just going to max them out to 2GB. It will take me over budget once again, but seeing that everything else has, who cares . I cant wait to start. I already started work on the case, which you guys can see in my worklog.
