Comp. not Turning On...Noise in Speakers!

On my computer power supply, slot 2 and 3 were out, but some how the fan on the MB was on. We tested wires 1 and 2 and they were both 12V constant. Wire 3(black wire) was confirmed ground. Help anyone?!?!

Some questions to help troubleshoot:
What mobo/CPU are you using?
Has the comp ever turn on?
Does it require the 4pin 12V P4 connector?
Do you get post?
Do you get any beep codes?
Have you tried switching your RAM and PSU?

Im using the D945GCLF2 mb

Has it turned on.. . sorta! The fan was running and that was it. I dont know how though because im using the m2atx powersupply and the only wire plugged in was the 12v constant.

Yes it requires the p4 cable. and It is in.

No Beep Codes

No Post

No but the memory is the same as a friends system

Same memory as a friends system, but maybe it's a bad stick? If you can try swapping it out with a different stick.

I was in a similar situation: no post, no beep, but LED was ON on the mobo and fan was on. I started swapping out components starting with the RAM, then PSU, video card, etc. Found I had a fried mobo.

So I'd start replacing parts, seeing if anything is dead.

its gotta be getting ground from somewhere, youre probably frying your board trying to run it like that.

from what you describe, ill bet its either a bad motherboard or cpu (motherboard most likely). youre going to have to try a new board, and use a ground- dont think 'if its working its fine'. do it right.

i just got my new board in today. a week ago, all was fine, then one day i start up, it loads to desktop, freezes, and that was it. it ended up being a bad motherboard (only 3 months old!). carpc's are above all, frustrating as hell.
