Here's the other thing .. for $29 you actually can use more than a gig... they will not charge you if you go over.... they will only ask you to switch plans if you habitually go WAY over the 1 gig mark.
The reason they gave me was that 95% of the users of Autonet never get anywhere near 1 gig because of the way autonet manages the data for you.
For example... lets say you are downloading a file that is 3 megs in size... halfway through you lose connection .. well if you are using mifi or a cell card... you will pay for that half downloaded file and you will then restart your download and you will end up paying for that full download once it's completed . considering it is actually successful.
Autonet will actually put your data in a holding pattern until you reconnect and then restart the download... this causes all of the Autonet users to use much less data ... costing Autonet less money and allowing them to charge $29 instead of $59
