Exclamation So CLOSE! One last issue...please help!

Here is my second attempt to explain my situation lol.

I have Mitch's audio selector which controls the signal of my HD Radio and aux/ipod 3.5 mm jack. Mitch's audio selector is then connected to the PC's LINE IN(blue) on the back panel.

I then have two audio jacks that could be used for a signal to my 4 channel amp. Green("Front Speakers", as listed in my IDT audio configuration page), and Black("Rear Speakers").

I finally got my HD Radio to work with Mitch's interface, and using a USB to Serial adapter. At the same time I NEEDED to get the audio selector working for the radio and my 3.5 mm jack. I installed all the necessary drivers and I finally had sound! (THIS IS WITH LINE OUT USING THE GREEN JACK). I restarted to the computer to be sure it was consistent and I had NO sound. Not from CF, not from itunes, not from anything. I opened the IDT interface and it shows BLUE(LINE IN), and GREEN("Front Speakers"). If I were to configure that LINE IN as "Side Speakers", my ..."Front Speakers" began to work.

I decided to use the BLACK jack as my LINE OUT and things seem to work fairly smooth. I am still curious as to why my front speakers don't work correctly. I do believe I am configuring everything correctly, but I could certainly be wrong.

--------------------------
Last but not least, the HD RADIO seems to produce sound strongly to the right side. It is VERY faint from the left. I've checked the audio selector to be sure the jack was inserted. I've also changed that (Y RCA->3.5mm) in case it was the actual cable. The connection with the audio selector seems to be a bit loose, but... my AUX input has full 4 channel sound so I don't believe it is a problem.

ultra confusing. i would make sure you get the latest audio driver package from the chipset maker, and read the manual carefully on how to configure it. there are so many things you are missing its like someone running up to you and saying "help do something quick!" and then running off... leaving you sitting there thinking what the ****?

also, i cant tell, but in some cases you need to enable stereo mix recording to get the input you want. its in the sound congiguration in control panel, in the recording properties page you right click to disable 'hide disabled devices' to show and enable the stereo mix function.

Thanks for sifting through my confusing post and providing some insight trader...

I happened to get an update on another thread subscription, and I checked the intel website for new audio drivers and there was one released on the 24th. I simply used the drivers off of my Intel CD. I will give this a shot, and if I still don't have any luck I will try to clear up my original thoughts lol.

SjLucky is on a distinguished road
Can you change the jacks to do something else? Meaning Can you change your Blue to line out and black to your line in? I had an issue similar to this. I couldnt get the back speakers to work. I had the front and subs but no back. So after hours and hours of changing drivers (started with the oldest and worked to the new uninstalling the older each time before the newer), changing amps, changing audio players, codecs and a slew of other things. So as a last resort I started playing with the jacks. I found that on that mother board (can't remember the model I think it was Gigabyte or Asus) If you Flip the green and blue everything was gravy with just the front and back add a sub to the red/pink and the whole thing went out. Also worth mentioning if you have the jack detection thing it will cause some problems on some machines. I hope what I went through helps.

Thanks for the heads up SjLucky. Unfortunately I do not believe I can change which jacks do what. I can switch the BLUE jack from Line In to Side Speakers...but the rest only give me one option. I'm going to do a bit of googling to see if I can change that.

I couldn't find anything on IDT's website, so I went ahead and switched the actual cable from BLACK back to GREEN. I quickly adjusted the configuration for the LINE IN and everything is pretty well set. I'm not sure if it's my imagination or not, but it does sound a little bit better. However, I've yet to restart the computer so I hope it all sticks.

Now if only I could get the HD RADIO to come through in full 4 channel glory...
