Finally settled for an OS. (question though)

MorphixLITE

Think of it as 98lite but for a linux OS.

I'm downloading the ISO right now. Do i need to download the Linux kernal and install that before i put morphix on my computer? or is the kernal included on the Morphix ISO?

without reading through that site it will have a generic kernel. It might have the kernel source for that version on the cd.. but you can easily download it if ou want to upgrade.

All the distributions come with a kernel already preinstaled, but is a good idea to compile your own once you have installed the OS, since the default is not optimized.

Is really more simple than what it sounds, search google for compile kernel and you'll see a lot of step-by-step guides.

i've tried this OS. All i did was put in the cd and it loaded itself up.

It sux. Imagine running windows off a cd instead of a HD. I could install to a hardrive but it doesn't recoginze my USB HD

I'm not meaning to be rude, but if you don't know the answer that question, you don't need to put Linux on your carputer.

You probably need to learn some more about it first.

You should also try knoppix, it is similar to MorphixLITE. It's more popular.
