[Question] Pioneer AVH-P4150DVD and GPS possible ?

Hi,

I have the above device, I would like to add a GPS adapter to it, I know it's possible. no one knows how or where to get this device.

if anyone can point me to the right direction, for a IP-BUS GPS adapter ?

Thanks.
Daniel

as far as i know, pioneer doesn't do that-the p-bus is mainly for controlling pioneer audio accessories-- like ipod controls, sat. radio boxes, and cd changers.

i think that there would be more than just adding the gps to it-- there also needs to be the software, and processing power to know what to do with that gps input, and your unit probably doesn't have enough power, or room for that.

Thank for the quick response.

We have here in Israel a company selling this device. it's a box (with all the processing power + GPS receiver + Antenna) it connects to the yellow connector on the back of the device (IP_BUS-RGB) I sow it working with my own ayes. the control of the device is through the touch screen and the integration is 100% working and functional - it's running IGO 8 !

any thoughts ?

ah, i see. the device you are talking about sounds like a external gps that plugs into any composite input screen to provide gps-- so it is not actually using the p-bus for control/mapping/gps data, it is only using the screen to display map data that it generates by itself...

being that this site is more focused on car computers, a add-on for aftermarket headunits is usually not considered too much around here, so maybe a general car audio forum would be able to provide better insight into how well it works?

The device do control the GPS and the sound goes through the speakers. not just a display. so i think the IP-BUS do kicks in.
