CPU woes - What do you guys think?

Now my old home PC has been getting progressively slower and slower so I decided to do some performance tests. Now this PC has a 550Mhz AMD K6 processor. Can you guys tell me what you think about this?
That is supposed to be my processor speed in real time at the bottom right corner

Components of my setup takes up way more than 250 characters and no matter how I tried to make it fit here it just wouldn't so please check my page.

I'd say that it's probably off a bit. Usually WCPUID is pretty accurate. But in your case, I think it missed by a few.

That is quite a few. I am almost certain my pc is not running at .52 mhz. Could it be a motherboard problem? I put the same processor in another PC and it was a lot faster however I did not run any tests on that pc to know the exact speed.
I don't know if it has anything to do with my clock speed but as you can see in WCPUID, it happens to be .23 Mhz. What's up with that. I thought it shuld have been 100 Mhz.

I don't think it's a problem with your mobo. You can't be running at 0.54MHz.

When you say it was faster in another PC, what are you judging it with? Just WCPUID? Or are you noticing better performance with applications or games?

the slowerness is probably due to windows committing suicide after some time being installed (the registry grows forever and the stupid functions that access the registry only know how to scan in a linear fashion)
as for the 0.54MHz, I'd say this is a stupid typo, where they meant GHz...

I notice a lot better performance.
i.e. When you clikck on the start menu in windows it takes approximately 10 seconds to pop up whereas in the other PC it pops up immediately.

Everything else it does a lot faster.

It has not been a long time because that thought crossed my mind so I backed up everything and reformatted the hard drive 3 days ago and reinstalled XP Pro. Still the same thing.

As for the Mhz, it is not a typo. I overclocked my M10K and it now runs at 1216.42 MHz

I find it hard to believe you could run at all, if that was the actual processor speed.

It does sound like there is a problem if you're waiting 10 seconds for the start menu to come up.

Try some other system benchmarks. These two may give you some more clues:

Run Full Test at PCPitstop.com.

A more advanced sys info app is Sandra2004. The standard version is free.

You're not supposed to overclock these things (is there even a way to do so ?)
