Scuff Marks
Hey guys, I just bought a 95 Saturn SC2. It has some scuff marks on the inside and I have tried everything in my garage short of the powerwasher.
this is my driver's side door. The scuffed material is a molded plastic. Any suggestions on how to get the scuff out?
this is my drivers seat. It is leather, and i think the light spots are just plain worn leather, but i want to know, what is the best way to the the black scuffs out of the leather?

First I would try a good vinyl cleaner, like Armor-All's Cleaner (not regular Armor-All, a cleaner made by them), and if that doesn't work, then maybe some rubbing compound and alot of elbow grease. If THAT doesn't work, then use some acetone on a rag, then follow up immediately with some water, then Armor-All. That will definately do it, but you run the risk of discoloring the vinyl. The seat you will have to get re-upholstered. it looks like the top surface of the vinyl has been scraped off. I don't think there is anything you can do for that.

if that doesn't work you can try and hit up a junkyard for a replacement door panel or you can buy one from the dealer. as far as the seat goes you might get lucky at a junkyeard with a new seat but for the most part there really isn't anything cheap that will fix it.

On the door panels, you may want to try 409 and a scrub brush. It looks like the scuff marks are from the previous drivers shoes, so they should come off fairly easy. I would not use acetone. It will slightly melt the plastic and leave a dull finish. Also, it will be sticky for a minute or two and will have towel lint all over.

I know this is going to sounds weird, but I just did this last night, I was up till about 1am cleaning my car out. Anyway this is how I have been cleaning scuff marks and my leather seats for years... "WINDEX" and a stiff plastic scrub brush. Just scrub and wipe with paper towels. If you are wondering if it has damaged any of my vehicles. I don't think it does. However I drive them into the ground, so I don't know if the 1 inch crack on my dash is from the cleaning or just being 12 years old. The leather seats I sit on are in pretty great shape for being 12 years old too. The passanger and back seats are perfect, and the dirvers seat has my *** worn into it. I'm not recommending it for you... just stating what has work very well for me (and cheap). After I use the Windex, and let it dry I use Armoral to moisten things back up.

you might want to simply dye it. There are lots of vinyl dye and you should be able to obtain a good result, but that include redying all the parts to have the exact same color everywhere.

Armorall actually takes out natural oils and moisture in plastics, and cause them to crack... It's alright if you keep using it, but when you stop you tend to get the 1" wide crack
