If you check out the Avic-X1, for europe, you'll find that they have intergrated traffic information on the map. And no, we don't have it here.

The only thing close is the NavTraffic by XM, and it might be early 05 before we can buy a nav box that has this function. So is it worth buying the avic-n1 now?

Its a good unit, we have them in stock and they are fairly nice. However, I don't know if its the name or whatnot, people seem to be put off by it. We sell many other nav systems, and no matter how much we try to convince people that its a good unit people just don't want it. I was trying to figure out why for a while now. At first I thought maybe its brand preference, but the same people who refuse Avic-N1 will take another pioneer nav solution.

The only thing that seems a little off about this unit is the fact that its All-In-One so reliability may suffer, but we won't know that for a while.

maybe all those extra features like the car performance and junk doesn't seem too appealing for them? Maybe they don't want to pay for that stuff... just guessing. But if you really think about it, that whole system is an awesome price and I didn't think pioneer was a bad namebrand!

I don't want to start a war or to defend pioneer but, the legality of the first two items you listed is extremely debatable, so you got 6000mp3, which can be easily done with a pioneer unit by use of aux in.

Also you got tri-zone capability, and you get all the features out of the box, no tinkering no adjusting to get it to work. Now I know that tinkering is the whole point of this forum, and I myself get very upset when I am not allowed to make something better, or at least see whats it made of, but you have to give its due where it belongs. These avics are pretty good, for the price and features.

Wow, amazing device they got there.

But I can imagine that people are not very eager to buy them. Most people that want such a device with that many features in their car (and are willing to pay that much) are used to working on their car. I'm thinking of all the people working and interested in the car-hifi business. I couldn't really imagine that someone is going to put a head unit like that in his car and having only a stock car-hifi install. Not that likely. My point being, these people are also people that can build their own CarPC. And maybe for a bit less money or extra features,... Personally I think that the fact that you can upgrade your homemade CarPC is certainly a plus.

But actually I think this is more something like an Apple vs PC discussion. You want something out of the box or something that you can configure to your own needs. Both can be ideal solutions.

After reading the review here:

http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-...n1.html?page=1

I would like to see this unit a little more. I think it looks great. Its also an amazing price, pretty hard to beat.

arkadiyp, whats the GPS like, compared to copilt/routis etc where would you say it stands?

Is the screen as good as the lilliput or better?

I cannot compare to copilot or routis, however between comercially available units, I always like Pioneer navigation best. It has one minor flaw, sometimes it tells you about a turn very close to it, however if you do skip it, the software recalculates almost instantly. The voice is also pleasant, if that matters to anyone

The screen is bright, but not annoying at night, as far as resolution I suspect pioneer's screens are all vga or better even though intercomponent conections are RGB. On monday I'll try to connect a computer to an older model and post a pic.

good voice is a plus, does she sound like Christina Ricci? That would sell me on it and I'd throw the Epia away

What's the price if the package includes the steering remote *and* the XM tuner?
