Looking for good battery-powered amp.

i found this, which looks promising, but it's only 15W/channel max.

i'd like something like this, but more powerful (25W+/channel, 2-4 channels), and hopefully around the same price. i want something that uses standard batteries (AA, C, D), volume control is a plus.

would i be better off building my own?

2 of these...

one of these,

and 10-12 D-Cell batteries.

dual-amp 18W/channel is pretty decent for a $50 portable amp, i think.

i'm pretty sure i could use just about any car amp, possibly even 2 bridgeable amps. that could push some serious sound, but the batteries may only last 5min.
