Also check out the webring off the homepage or the example pages. I built my first system before ever coming to the forums. I got all the info I needed from the webring and examples pages. Just about every mp3car site that I have been too has details for every part of their system.

I think I did a pretty good job of describing what worked, and what didnt, and why I chose the parts I used. all my information is freely availbel, Im hapy to answer wiring questions, software etc. I also have links to purchase all the parts I used in my project - note all the links are through an outside dealer, I dont charge / ship the parts, just provide links and part numbers for those interested.

hey gizmomkr. good job! its nice to know that some people here are willing to help. i am putting together a car computer now to be installed in the spring. i have read all the posts and have had a lot of questions answered. you guys should be more positive so if you don't want to talk to a "newbie" then don't. let somebody else do it. its real easy. i have been into car stereo since the late 70's and i am also a complete do-it-yourselfer. if anyone had a question about my car system i would be more than glad to answer it. why wouldn't you want to brag about something that only a handful of people own! not everyone can do this stuff. my only question is this--i would just like some feedback on how a dvd player reacts to bumps on the road while watching a movie or playing a cd. i realize that a lot of you guys don't use this feature. in searching, i really haven't found enough talk about this. thanks.

Well, if you check my page, you can see the enclosure I put my external SCSI DVD in, I dont think the enclosure does much, but the fact that its just kinda wedged under the seat ( the front is held tight between the seat botom and the floor, and the back just hangs there) kinda absorbs some shock.
I have *never* had the dvd skip in any of my travels - slightly bumpy, speed bumps, highway... etc.
but I must add, if you were mounting it in the computer case it would probably need some shock absorbing system. I say this because one time about a year ago, I was watching a DVD on my Gateway lap-top,( this was way before I put the full system in the car) I went over a verry small bump in the road, and it knocked the dvd head out of allignment. Gateway was great, ( sent me a new one ) but I was suprised how sensitive it was.
