Autorun CF card on insert???

Hello fellow car modding computer junkies,

I have an idea that I would like to pass by a few of you. My plan is to add an autorun feature to my compact flash card. I found the below link to be very promising, but through all my trials I have not come to a proper solution. Right now I have a small exe that continuously polls the system to see if the CF card has been inserted. Then I have the program copy a few files and then check for a few other things. Getting to the point, I would love to be able to run whatever autorun.exe is found on the card once it has been placed in the reader. Has anyone done something like this? I've and for hours at work (slow day) for something that works. Hopefully someone here can shine a bit more light on this subject for me. If all else fails, does anyone know how to run a program on resume after going to standby? I was hoping that a shortcut to an executable in the startup folder would work. O well... Onto the next task

Thanks for any help

Scroll down your link to here:

Then look at the test from floppy and do the registry mod to allow autorun
from removable devices.

Edit: Your drivers for your flash reader will need to have support for this.

The registry was already in that configuration. The only thing that I noticed was that the last byte was set to 91 instead of the first byte. I'll take a look into the driver for the card reader. Thanks for the help Frodo.

If I can't get the autorun feature to work, I'll check out that WM_POWERBROADCAST message. Thanks SilentAdmirer.

I'm sure I'll find a solution here in the near future.
