Any VB guru wanna help me out with it?
I am able to find the handler for the VIS and Video and when those window visible close it, but I can't get them to close. Try SendMessage with Ctrl + Shift +K for VIS and alt+V for Video, but those don't work.
To close all other apps, SendMessage with WM_CLOSE works well. But not Winamp VIS/Video.
Fodo, can you help me with this?

Maybe if you stop calling me Fodo.

How 'bout an app that takes a sort of snap shot of what apps/files are running every few minutes or so. Might be enough to show you weren't running a video app at the time of the accident if you were dragged into court. Sort of a log of use.

Just a thought. Don't know if it's feasible or not. Never really considered until now what would happen if I had an accident that wasn't my fault when they see the touchscreen.

Have a separate HDD that hold all the video files.

In case of an accident :

Take the HDD out and throw out of the scene or have an apps that automatically delete the movie files and replace it with MP3s

Hopefuly you or the PC survive the crash to do the operation

Here's my two sense.

You can take the gun away from the idiot but you can't take the idiot away from himself.

While telematic solutions may threaten some lives, because of a lack of responsibility on the drivers part. They can also save lives, they can save more lives than destroy.

They can recieve weather updates to warn drivers of on-comming severe weather patterns. They can help police focus on the road by accepting verbal commands, to turn sirens on. They can remind drivers to turn driving lights on when its dusk.

There are countless reasons why poeple should have telematic solutions. Charging somone for murder is crazy !

SendMessage hWndWinAMP, WM_COMMAND, 40328, 0

(WM_COMMAND = &H111 and hWndWinAMP is winamps handle)

This will toggle the video window on and off. You will need to search
for the window first to so if it's open if you want to do an action.
Otherwise you might open it when it's already closed etc.

For Classic Mode this window is called "Winamp Video" with class name
"Winamp Video"

Frodo, I need help one more time.
The video works good now.
I try the same thing with Visualization
SendMessage hWndWinAMP, WM_COMMAND, 40192, 0
But that doesn't work. I figure out that the parameter is by getting it out of Girder.
Cool Thanks

I got it to work.
The command has to be sent from the main winamp window. Not the Visualizations window.
Thanks Frodo

The problem I have with the software lockouts is that they really are not the same as the lockouts that most laws talk about regarding DVD players. A factory or professionally installed DVD player lockout cannot be bypassed in software, any Carputer lockout can. Also the HDD has to survive in order to prove that you had it enabled - then you would have to try explaining to a jury how the lockout and software works.

I am definitely a glass half full type of person though – I blame my job for that .

My father was rear ended at a red light by a lady reading a book. She smashed into his truck going 50mph without even applying her brakes. They were both ok, but the lady never got in major trouble for what she did. The dude with the dvd player was just a careless driver regardless of whether he was reaching for a soda or watching a movie. This is just a very good reminder for us to stay alert and not get too distracted by our creations. Software/Hardware locks will help us to avoid the temptation to watch movies in the car though. What about if you have a dual monitor set-up with a screen in the back for the kids? Could you lock out video from the front monitor and not the other?
