i have a pretty good idea that i havent used yet... i was going to teather all the amps, sub boxes, and my computer to the bottom of each item, through the floor of the car.. the cables would hook onto the bottom so it would be pretty hard to figure out how everything is held down... also the thief would have to go under the car to cut the cables...

and in addition to that i was going to superglue razor blades pointing inward on the bottoms of everything... that way figners go under... but they are a little smaller when the come out... i figure it would be pretty hard to sue because it was obvious that they were trying to steal... there is no way they accidentally got their hands in your trunk and under your stuff =)

i dont know if you heard this story its a bit old. I cought it in the news one day. its about a guy that broke into a house and stole a tv. on his way out of the house he slipped on some ice on the stairs and broke his back. Since it was the home owners fault that there was ice on the stoop the theif sued and won 30 grand. Even though he was breaking and entering. So when doing somehting that hurts others you are taking a risk no matter what.

I like the high voltage idea! How long can a large capasitor hold a charge? Strap it to your sub box, someone grabs it and they get a pretty nasty shock! Then just have it automatically recharge.
I wanted a way to leave my carputer on somehow and make a super smart car alarm!

you can do that with a flash unit from a disposable camera. its real easy, but the only thing is that it's DC, which means that they have to touch two metal surfaces, not just one, and those surfaces can't be touching each other

Hmm. Interesting ideas - but let me shoot them down for you...

Razor blades? Ahh, no? 'Cause what happens if you turn your car into the dealer because of a problem, and a crooked shop repairman goes in there and cuts himself? Well, he will just claim that he was tracking down the source of an electrical problem they found during the repair...blah, blah, blah. Result? Law$uit. Same thing goes for the electrical jolt idea.

Bolting stuff down is nice, unless you are like me and always pulling stuff out and putting it back in another way. It's a PITA as it is.

Let's face it, if someone wants your stuff - they'll get it one way or another. Alarms and other anti-theft devices don't work. If you had an in-car mini cam , it might help catch the prick that takes your prized possesions.

Anyway, just my $.02
