HOW VISIBLE IS YOUR CARPC? Is it safe?
I was wondering about how visible your CarPC install is and if so how many of you had break-ins.

No break-ins yet, though I just got my carputer set up. However, my lilliput is mounted really low, and I hide it when I park. No one has even noticed mine yet.

My TFT is mounted fairly low down too, and I've got tinted windows which makes it a bit harder to see. I've never had a break-in, and hopefully never will.
My security...
1) Locked in garage overnight
2) Clifford Concept 300 alarm / immobilser
3) CCTV on the garage and around the house (24/7 recorded)
4) Flood lighting
5) Nosey neighbours!
6) At work, it's in a secure underground (private) car park... with CCTV
7) I never leave it anywhere out of site if I can help it.
8) Rhodeshan Ridgeback!
Also, I firmly believe that if your TFT looks factory then it'll look like it's meant to be there and theives are too dumb to think carputer!

NOTE TO SELF:
Bring lock pick, avoid CCTV, jump immobilizer, cut power to block, sedate neighbors

Previously I had a pioneer quick release TV screen mounted on the dash. (because it went with me, no one could tell)
now I have a lilliput mounted in the dash, slightly recessed. Also the dash is black and the surround is as well. so it's not all that obvious and looks factory.
and especially for EBFoxbat it has a 30,000 volt electric charge going through it, so bring your rubber gloves.

Make a fake faceplate from a junk HU and put it over your screen, like this:

Personally, I use a laptop (Toughbook CF-18 w/ touchscreen!) so I just bring it in the house or toss it under the seat out of site.

yeh, there was this guy at the Long Island meet yesterday with a VW with a 10" screen that no one knew was there because he had a fake stereo cover...I'll post pics later. I will probably try the same idea.
Right now, I'm pullling out the entire Lilliput and unplugging it every time I park my car. Fortunately, I only use my car like once every week or so.
BTW, I like in northern Jersey, so I'm paranoid.

Click on the link in my sig... Mine's just out in the open. I live in podunk, USA though, I've never had a break-in or anything. I even leave my car unlocked and windows down during the night. I ain't scared. I don't even have an alarm, which yeah, is probably kinda stupid. Oh well.

I have been thinking about taking out and bringing in the LCD every night *when i get one* but I have heard some bad things about the connectors on the Lilliput so I'm not so sure.

Well, any connector for that matter will just wear out after time.
