Post MP3 carputers in the UK.

Is there anyone accessing this excellent website from the UK? Or are the only people capable of fitting a PC in a car living in the States?

Could we have an 'MP3 in the UK' Forum?

If you have (or are in the process of installing) an MP3 player in your car and live in the UK - please get in touch so we can exhange ideas on this brilliant format.

And while we are at it how about a "MP3 Downunder" and "MP3 in Finland" and "MP3 in Denmark" ... I dont see the need for seperate forums just because we are from differnt parts of the world. We come here to share a common interest, and that is expressed perfectally by the forums that we have now.

dont mean to be rude, just expressing my views

I wasn't trying to segment the world off and cause arguements - it's just that i'd like to know if anyone in the UK are building MP3 carputers and where they get their kit from (mail order or somewhere like RS, tandy etc)

How is your install going?

You can post a topic asking for people in the UK, has been done before with differnt areas.

Cool

I heard you were after the best mp3car builder in the uk, Well, he lives down the road, turn right next tot the chippy, past the pub on your right and thats his house on the left just after the farm. Yes you guest it i am one of those bluddy english gits. Any way, i get-got, all my bits from the computer markets around at the weekend, the display and other bits were from Maplin electronics. It strange the price diffrence between here and the US, my carputer is only a 133, The US use 400Mhz, "just lying around"- "scrapper". I wish i had a 400Mhz just lying around.

P.S This site is the best thing since sliced bread!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of hardware prices... Living in the northwest states is the best. Possibly cheaper than California even, since our income is stronger here.

I can SEE an Intel office where I live. I could WALK to a fab if I was really bored. I could throw rocks at the small computer shops around here. It's sometimes hard to beat the local prices, even on pricewatch.

All this doesn't matter though, since I'm LAID OFF!!

Ugh.

Sorry for the OT post, I'm just bitter from job hunting.

I buy most parts at computer fairs, and mail order from the states or europe.

Maplins is good for cables/connectors etc.

Hey Craigyb, do they still do the fairs at Butlers? Is that the place??? on Trafford Park. Wish I could find something like that here!
